Cars for My Classic Car with Dennis Gage - 2019

Cars for My Classic Car with Dennis Gage - 2019

Yancy and I travel to Evansville, Indiana in a few weeks to shoot all new episodes of My Classic Car with Dennis Gage. Autogeek has been a paid sponsor My Classic Car I think for about 6-7 years now... I'll have to check.

Every year we showcase cool tools, pads and products as well as share tips, tricks and techniques. As such, we always need show-appropriate cars, that is cars that match the theme of My Classic Car and for this year, here are the potential candidate cars we're working on....

This first one is both unique and cool, it's part of the American culture from the 1960's called Flower Power. This was a FACTORY OPTION in 1969 for these models....

This is a survivor car, all original 1969 Pontiac Barracuda Mod Top

This first picture is the actual car.

These pictures I borrowed from John Gunner's website Gunner's Garage where you can find more information about this car.

Just for fun, I went to Google Images and typed in,

Dennis Gage Mike Phillips and located a picture from the FIRST time I worked with Dennis Gage on the set of My Classic Car. The date of this thread is

    October 18th, 2012 - so that's 6 years ago....

    Continued....

Here's some more cars that have been offered to Autogeek for our segments....

1979 Trans Am fully restored stock.

In memory of the passing of Burt Reynolds this car has mass appeal....

    1969 Hurst/Olds fully restored stock

This is a true muscle car with a strong and loyal fan following....

    1971 Nova SS

This Nova belongs to my friend Shawn Young and we have actually used this car on previous episodes of My Classic Car.

Also offered but no pictures yet....

These are not the cars, but they resemble the cars... (waiting for pictures)

1959 Ford Fairlane convertible - black and white exterior- red interior

1967 Olds 442 Convertible - red exterior - black interior

    1974 Hurst/Olds - black exterior

    Very nice offerings.

Most important is the trust the owners of all of the above cars have in Autogeek to let us use their custom and classic cars.

I agree, nice cars. We've chosen the Mod Top Barracuda for one of the cars we'll use.

It has the right paint and panels for what we're going to show plus Dennis thinks it's really cool!

Re: Cars for My Classic Car with Dennis Gage - 2019

    ***Update***

After careful consideration for the tools, products and techniques we will be showcasing on My Classic Car, we have decided to go with these two cars, the 1969 Mod Top Barracuda and the 1973 Nova

    1969 Mod Top Barracuda

    1973 Nova

    Follow-ups
I've sent the link to this thread to Ben the Producer and Dennis, (Dennis and Ben love the Mod Top Barracuda), and also to everyone that submitted cars for Autogeek's segments on My Classic Car for 2019

If you're reading this and your car was not chosen, thank you for offering to let us use your car and of course we'll be looking for different cars for this time of year in 2019.

    Thank you!

Re: Cars for My Classic Car with Dennis Gage - 2019

    ***Update***

Just talked to Harold, the owner of the 1969 Mod Top Barracuda. He told me that except for the two front fenders, all of the rest of the paint is the ORIGINAL paint from 1969. This makes it a true survivor car but.... it won't lend itself well to showcasing the product we want to feature on My Classic Car.

I told Harold I would bring him a bottle of Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze for the original paint, (told him about how I restored the original paint on Wayne Carini's 1953 Hudson Hornet with #7).

Then Harold let me know he had another old 2-door MOPAR. This one he says is a full rotisserie restoration in QUAD BLACK and the basecoat/clearcoat finish has lots of swirls.

--> Perfect for what we want to do on the show for 2019.

1971 Plymouth Roadrunner in Quad Black with a 383 Big Block!

Because I sent the link to this thread to Harold and Shawn, (Shawn owns the Nova), as well as Dennis and his Producer Ben....

    See you all next Wednesday!
