    Clean Chrome Exhaust Tip

    Hello,

What is the best product to get the black carbon off of a chrome exhaust tip?
I tried one and it didn't touch it.

Don't need a do it yourself with household product or anything, I'm looking for the best product I can buy.

    Thank you,

I use the Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish for the heavy cleaning. I'll start with a terry cloth towel and see how well it's removing the carbon build up. If that doesn't work I'll step down to 0000 steel wool and the polish. Once the carbon is gone, I'll go over it again with the towel and the polish just to make sure the steel wool didn't leave any marks.

    Thank you,
    x2 on Mothers.

However, regardless of buying the product, I've been doing this a long time and nothing beats good old oven cleaner. Get the no-fume kind and just spray it on a rag and dab it on or use cardboard to isolate the tip(s) and spray them. Let it dwell for 2hrs, come back and simply wipe clean. Works faster if they are warmed up after say a short drive. It's trick I've been using since the early 90's.

Once done, coat the tips with GYEON's RIM Product and soot, especially notorious on Turbo vehicles, will wipe off with just soap and water.

I like using P21S/S100 Polishing Soaps
and/or “Tar Removers” (such as Stoners)
to clean the exhaust tips; followed-up
    with an application of Simichrome.

Here in Sweden some uses the oven cleaner on really neglected rims. That has alot of baked in brake dust and that yellow it sometimes can get. Will have in mind the oven cleaner if I get to clean a chrome exhaust tip.

Used Autosol chrome polish I think it's called. It was to aggressive and did not leave a scratch free finish but some micro marring on the chrome. Know uses a metall polish or and Mothers Billet.
