Re: Sticky Cobra clay bar mitt

I do not remember anyone posting about the BF mitt, but quite honestly after examining the material on the cobra, nano sponges, and GG synthetic, they all appear to be very similar.

I could be totally wrong about this, but like I said..........

I’m thinking the same. BF looks exactly the same as well. Maybe it’s a coaster grain or something, but will probably pick one up next good sale.

The mitt on the left marrs the heck out of paint because it’s too far gone. It’s coarse and dry.

The mitt on the right works fine.

You want the claymitt to feel slightly tacky, but not the way it is when it melts because that’s a whole nother thing.

What you want to avoid is a claymitt that’s become dry, IME that’s guaranteed to marr the paint.

I use the NANOSKIN AUTOSCRUB Handy Towel 7" General Grade towel. It is always sticky after drying which I think is good. I also use the following method for claying cars. I love it and it keeps the clay towel in great shape and well lubricated.

    Essentially this is the method:
    1. soak clay towel in bucket of rinse less wash mixture ( I have both WG Uber and UWW+) 1/2 gallon distilled water:1/2 once WGUber
    2. do one panel at a time
    3. rinse clay towel and dunk it back in the bucket
    4. rinse panel off
    5. onto next panel

To speed up the process I won't rinse off every panel after claying it. I'll do a few panels the rinse all those panels off at once. So clay front right quarter panel, rinse clay towel, dunk it back in solution, clay hood, rinse clay towel, dunk it back in solution and the same for the front left quarter panel, then rinse off those panels with my hose/sprayer at the same time.

I'll also keep my UWW+ or WGUber clay lube spray bottle handy if I need to spray a few squirts on a panel. Afterwards I rinse off the clay towel and hang it clay side up to dry inside the garage.
