I just upgraded from the Blue Filter to this premium wet/dry easy clean Hepa filter. Supposed to be the best available.





I’m cleaning my vacuum right now including the hoses [all 3] and attachments so it can be like brand new. More importantly smell like brand new.

My Metrovac is less powerful than my home Shark for twice the price. Shark actually makes a vac for vehicle use that is similar to my home vac. I don’t like cleaning bags. My last two home vacs were bagless and easier to maintain. I should have done my homework on the Metrovac. A wet/dry shop vac would have been better for my use and probably been more powerful/versatile. It does have the blower option, but it is too clumsy and slow to be of use to me (I just grab my battery blower). It also takes up more space than a normal shopvac due to its long design (I will wall mount it someday). I do like that it was made in the USA.

I have the same one. Mine is filthy and pretty beat up compared to yours. I don't have a HEPA filter because mine works in the garage and outdoors only. Is that filter washable or do you have to dispose of it once it is spent?

Not disposable but the complete opposite.. This thing is supposed to be built like a tank and last a very long time as long as you take care of it properly, meaning tap it clean and rinsing it in the sink or with low pressure hose is allowed. No compressed air or high pressure water. If you can follow those directions it should last.

According to everyone it comes nearly completely clean by simply tapping it clean. It’s coated with teflon or something similar.

My Ridgid was as nasty as you can imagine prior to me cleaning it just now. I didn’t take any before pics but you all know how grimy it looks after a few wet carpet details.

It is ready.

That's pretty sanitary. Maybe I'll hit mine with the power washer and see if I can clean it up like that.

On a side note, due to a lack of space, I'm thinking of getting a central vacuum system to bolt on the wall for the garage and cars. I have a place, out of the way I can mount it and then use 2" PVC vacuum pipe to run outlets in convenient places in the garage. I want power so I'm looking at a large house-grade unit. 50' hose is standard. Overkill for the garage and cars but I like building infrastructure like this. It would be nice to have an on-demand vacuum outlet right inside of the garage doors on both sides. I'm getting ready to redo my compressed air infrastructure so it would be two birds with one stone. My current compressed air system has some flaws that I want to correct, too.

I'm curently using the mckee37 dual stage shop vac..185 cfm.
Ill be adding another and get a Y adapter to run both at same time..
Any 6.5 HP single stage motor will work well too as they range from 195-205 cfm

Powr-flite 100+ inches of lift.nothing that Ridgid makes (at least that I've ever seen) comes close to that.

I have a Clean Stream filter on a Shop Vac that's been there 15-20 years. I've never washed it. I do occasionally blow it out with air. After reading Eldo's post, maybe you're not supposed to??? I've never had it cause any damage.
