More cut??
So I am very used to using Meguiars M105 for my cutting stage. But I have worked on a few cars where the M105 is just not enough. What would be a better cutter than M205? I also use Meguiars yellow polishing pad for this. This is both used with a PC 7424. I am thinking about upgrading to a better machine such as a Rupes.

Re: More cut??
What are you trying to get the m205 to do?
It's normally a finishing polish, designed to refine the results from a cutting step.
I've had m205 do great things with a more aggressive pad like a green Buff and Shine, or orange Lake Country CCS.

What kind of machine?? On the long throw the Griot's Fast Correcting Cream on their white Boss pad cuts great. You can also use the Boss microfiber pad. What kind of cars are you talking about?

Re: More cut??
Sonax Cutmax and Carpro ClearCut has some great cutting ability. I also see many that have used m105 has gone over to either m100 or m101. Since they dust alot less as I understand m105 does. But think you would test some more aggressive pads too. Foamed wool pads has very high cutting ability and then comes the mf cutting pads.
With a longthrow polisher or a gear-driven orbital polisher you can work faster and get you more cut when needed. And time is money so it's a great investment. If you feel like you have the technique to keep the pad spinning with your PC. A Rupes 15mm mkII or a 21mm mkII polisher would be a great choice.

Ok.
The yellow Meguiar's polishing pad is pretty good for light to moderate defects.
Try a dedicated "cutting" pad. The Meguiar's Maroon foam, or (as mentioned) microfiber will be more suitable toward your end goals.
I find the M105 to he a fast cutting, fast acting compound. After two or three passes, it's usually done. I usually work it at speed 5, sometimes 4.5. Any faster, then it dries out even more quickly. Make sure your pressure is firm, even, and consistent while maintaining pad rotation.
Unless you really want a new tool, or are going to be doing a ton of cars, the Porter Cable 7424xp is a great tool. I still use it more than the others.

Guess I missed the machine and pad at the end of the original post. Any cutting pad combined with a compound will increase your cut. If you want to stay with Meg's I would go with the purple thin pad. Are you running a 5 or 6 inch backing plate??

Meguires d300 and a microfiber cutting pad will cut very well. Even on very hard paint systems.
