3" Rupes Pads with Porter Cable 7424?

    Hello Mike,

Can I use the 3" Rupes pads with my Porter Cable 7424? Can I switch to a 3" backing plate for the Rupes pads?

If so which 3" backing plate do you recommend for the 7424 to be used with the Rupes pads?

    Thank you

    Paul

The Griots Garage 3 inch HD Backing Plate is working well on my PC 7424. It was designed for the GG6, but it made a noticeable improvement in vibration on the PC. I prefer the smaller shroud on the PC to the GG6 with the 3" BP.

Yes. Technically the RUPES pads are 4" pads with a 3" velcro backing.

    You want this one,

3 Inch Dual Action Flexible Backing Plate

And for what it's worth, the RUPES 4" pads work great on the PC and Griot's DA as do the RUPES 6" pads.

One of my favorite combos for heavy cutting with a simple DA is the RUPES 6" coarse blue foam pad on a PC or GG with of course... quality abrasive technology.

You're right, I'm sorry I'm forgot that one. This might be a better choice for the larger machines, as it's thicker and has more weight. This might aid better balancing. with the larger machines. I probably forgot, but I believe I also have this one on hand myself besides the Lake Country 3" Plate.

    No need to change counterweight.

I forgot about the Griots heavy duty 3” BP - that would be a good choice to.
