What causes polish to dry out almost instantly?

So I started AiO process for 2011 black subaru.

I was polishing inside of garage, door closed, box fan running
and when I started to polish..... as soon as I pass the section, polishes dry almost instantly (HD speed)
Also residue is almost impossible to get it off.

I found McKees jewel wax with light pressure working much better for this project, but
why is this happening? Something to do humidity? perhaps my polish is too old?

Humidity can be a cause of the
    product's lubricants drying out
    so quickly.

You'll probably need to make a few
    adjustments to your pad-priming
    method; and/or, adding more product
to the pad while you are performing
    the buffing-cycle.

Here's a really good Mike Phillips
    article regarding "wet buffing":

    Thanks Bob,

That is the exact same problem Im having,
and if I didnt work my polish long enough, I understand it would haze up
but still should be able to remove them no problem right?

Kevin Brown's method is to toss a spritz of H20 on the section if you notice your product is drying out. I tried it for the first time and it seemed to pull all of the excess product out of my foam pad (LC 5.5" orange CCS) and onto the paint. Seems to be the more cost effective and work efficient fix compared to turning off the machine, cleaning the pad, then re-applying polish. Thought I'd add that I believe this method consists of applying extra pressure after the single mist of water in order to help the water pull the remaining product out of the deeper sections in the pad.

Does anyone else use the water-spray method? What are your thoughts on it?

Subaru are known for their "sticky" paint, which is likely the issue you are having. Try the same process on another car and see if you have the same issues.

    You're absolutely correct.
After spending few hours in front of computer to tackle this correctly
I learned that its "sticky" paint and these type of paint like to absorb polishing oil/ lubricant.

Any tips on how to polish paint like this?
