Can I fix this or do I need to get it painted?
Hello just trying to find out out if this is fixable or if the paint is too far gone and needs to be repainted.
Just in case it matters this is an 06 Chevy Tahoe with some kind of metallic paint, don't know the color.

Could try this guys "fix". It's more of a camouflage to me, but it certainly improved his condition. But if you want pretty metallic paint again, it's gonna need repainted. Since it is on top of the roof though, and not readily visible to average height individuals, this DIY item may be a route to consider. There is no way to make it go away sadly, just cover it up or repaint the vehicle.

•IMO (from what the photos depict):
-The only fix is to have it resprayed.
-How great the need is, to have that
done, is up to you.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, it seems painting is the way to go.

Just FWIW, it's not just the clearcoat that has failed, those white areas in the middle are primer showing through where the basecoat is gone.

That's what I figured, apparently no one ever waxed the roof :/

Most people dont, including some of the so called professionals.

Exactly. If they cannot reach it, it doesn't get done.
It's such a PITA to get up into my truck bed and wash/dry/clay/polish/wax the roof, but it HAS to be done. The roof, hood, (and deck lid on a car) take so much more abuse from the sun. (Obviously).
