Quick Jack units are definitely the best bang for your buck.

That's what I am using. Ranger Quick Jack. I like it. (when it works...been having some issues. Trying to get it squared away!)

I have the 7000 model, can't go wrong other than each lift is HEAVY. The picture shows a guy holding one in each hand, don't get confused, he is holding the 3500lb model which is a significant amount lighter. I have learned one thing, don't take the tires off and lower it completely. It can't raise a vehicle from a dead lift, it needs to get going then raise the vehicle. I lowered my Jeep SRT all the way down, talk about a nightmare trying to get it lifted back up!

I have seen those .. but it seem like all of the ones recommended only go up to like 48 inches .. I think like 42 inches with the safety locks. Any other good ones that go higher?

Lots of different lift options out there but if you want a "truly" portable lift then Quick Jack is the way to go. However, if you want something that can raise the car higher than 21.5", it's not going to be very portable IME.
I had a mid-rise scissor lift (52") which could be moved around, but not very easily.
For my new lift I flush mounted it so that it didn't take up any space and didn't require ramps for clearance. It also has a lift height of 68"

RaskyR1,
Can you share the make and model of this scissor lift? I've been searching for something sturdy and this looks good!
Thank you.

Re: Could anybody recommend a good portable scissor lifts?
If you're okay with doing one side at a time and jack stands underneath the vehicle, my method works great. I use the factory scissor jack that came with my MDX, but rather than turning it by hand, I put a 1/2" drive impact socket over the thing you'd usually hook the lever into. I then put a 1/2" drive adapter into my 20V cordless impact gun, hook to the socket, and spin 'er on up! Makes one hell of a racket, but it's super easy and goes mighty fast.

That is the BendPak SP-7X. I would suggest looking at the Atlas units though as I had to modify mine a little to be able to lift longer wheel based cars.
