    Post Stone dust

So I work two doors down from a stone business and every day when I leave there is a layer of dust on my car (2012 Buick Regal GS, Diamond white tricoat),which up until now I though was just regular dust (misc airborne junk) I have tried almost every method possible to not scratch the car while washing but somehow I do it anyway. I notice even after weekly washes the paint feels like crap. I clay and wax/sealant every 1-2 months (when beading/sheeting no longer occurs) and the paint feels like glass. I tried to polish out the scratches but the clear coat seems very hard and my HF Da won't cut it. So my question is, what can I do to not have this stone/marble dust attach itself to the paint every day or so?

Not to step on Mike's subforum, but IMO the first thing to do would be to park somewhere farther away, if that's at all possible. You know, prevention is the best cure, yada yada.

I use McKee's 37 coating and it repels dust noticeably better than any sealant or wax. My car is Pure Black and I do really notice it helps.

I would contact your local Health Office/Officials and tell them of your dust problem (not detailing related) and have them check it out. The stone dust could be very detrimental to your health, lungs, cancer. It is something you do not want to mess around with.

Have you considered buying a car cover?

Powerwash the dust off before you do a mechanical wash. Should solve your problem.

Look at something like ONR that emulsifies dirt and provides lubrication.

    Re: Stone dust

Sorry for the late response but I've been busy with work.
Thanks for the fast reply's everyone! I should have went into more detail on how I wash/prevent marring of the paint.
    Here's the products use
    -2800 gas pressure washer
    -CG snow foam lance
-Meguiars microfiber white wash mitt for upper 2/3 of car
-1 Tag company wash mitt for the lower 1/3 of car
-3 Grit guards (2 lower ones and 1 slanted one)
    -2 bucket method
-1.5-2oz of ONR added to wash bucket
-DIY whole household water purifier onto the garden hose (don't think this makes a difference)
I have ocd when it comes to my car and like to keep it as nice is possible (which I'm sure many of you do)
-My work is in the same strip mall as these stone guys so I don't have a lot of parking options unfortunately
-I have not looked into a car cover yet but if the car is dirty I would assume the cover may scratch the paint right?
-I'm going to check on the health dept. and see if there is an issue, but I'm sure what I breath in at work (import tuning shop) may be wise than the dust. (E85, pump gas, leaded race fuel, welding, etc)
Also I have applied collinite 845 on it last weekend, I don't know if that will help like pdqgp said McKee's does.
Thank you again everyone for the responses
