I purchased a GG polisher locally at Advance Auto with a good discount and then ran across your website.

Question:, as you know it is supplied with a 6" backing plate, which I want to change over to a 5" plate. I know you carry Buff and Shine as well as Lake Country plates in 5 inch.

Can you help shed some light on the practicality of using one over the other? I can read online all weekend long and get a thousand responses but I trust your insight and plan to make purchases with AG.

I know there are other online stores such as Chemical Guys and their plates and pads. I am a complete newbie to the world of polishing and would like your valued input.

You got a great DA there. I love mine. Love it even more using Griots BOSS pads and creams. Not sure if its the pads alone or the creams alone but mine runs smoother when using their pads and creams

Not trying to take business away from here, and very possible it is carried here? Haven't looked in AG's store.

What I think would be the cat's meow, "the" Plate to have for your new Griots GG6 DA, would be their new Boss 5" Ventilated Backing Plate.

Advanced might be able also to order this for you if they don't stock it.

While I have a PC DA, and the Lake Country 5" Backing Plate, I think I will get this new Griots Backing Plate soon. The cooler that the Backing Plate and the Pads stay, all the better.

There are a couple of other people selling such a ventilated backing plate, but looks to me that Griots has the best deal going, and the best plate for the money. And I'd imagine like anything else Griots Garage sells, they'll stand behind the life of that plate just like their polishers.

Thanks everyone for your speedy replies. I am anxious to get started. This all came about when I bought my wife a 90 Miata that needs oxidized paint removed.

My LC-43-125DA (5") for my GG6 has never let me down. That being said that ventilated backing plate looks sick! If I was doing a heavy 2-3 step process I would definitely have one of those.
I use mine more for a yearly polish or whenever a buddy wants help taking out a few scratches

Yeah, but if your read though on the description, this Backing Plate will fit all with the standard stud thread. What's the difference of throw? That Griots you just bought has all the throw you'll ever need to perfect any paint.

I'll be getting me one of these Plates, some Carpro Essence, and some pads on my next order!

Not only will your pads stay cooler with this vented backing plate but if you also get the BOSS pads or any pad made for long throw machines that will also help keep them cooler cause of the center hole

where does it say that? this is directly from their website...

"This vented backing plate is a performance upgrade to your corded 6" Random Orbital and 5" cordless Lithium-Ion Random Orbital. "

I'm currently using one on my GG6

you can clearly tell which backing plate is compatible/used for the G15/21 and GG6...

this ^ DA backing plate is for traditional PC-style DA's (GG6, MT300, etc,).
