So, I don't really do RVs or boats, but I had a customer last summer want me to coat the front cap of his new 5th wheel. I figured since it was new it would be an easy straightforward job, and it was (my LSP coating was Gloss Coat BTW), however within 3 months it started oxidizing. I did a quick polish on it and it seemed to remedy the situation, but it ended up only being a short term fix. After winter the entire top half of the front cap is terrible now. I tried polishing it but it didn't want to budge. So I need some help!!!

What's a good RV compound/polish combo that will remove pretty bad oxidation and bring back the clear that it once was? I'm guessing something from a marine line, but I'm kinda green in this sector.

I have a Rupes21 (first version) and will be adding a boss G21 on to this order of compounds/polishes and have a wide range of pads - just so you know what I'm working with. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

3M super Duty, a rotary and a wool pad. That combo makes short work of gelcoat oxidation for me. My wax preference is Collinite 885 or 476S. After the compounding I use 870 with a DA to remove any oils left behind and it also lays down a thin layer of 885.

Thanks for the suggestion, I Don't have a rotary though, so any suggestion for just having a rupes21?

Your Rupes, 3M Super Duty and the highest cut foam pad and see how that works out. I do not know if a wool pad would work or not. You may need a finishing polish, you really will not know until after the 3M step.

Hey bud! How's Oregon treating ya??

I did a 28' Rinker boat a few weeks ago with my G21 and cutting pad. I used Griots Fast Correcting Cream and it turned out awesome! LSP is Collinite Fleetwax #845

Here's an idea...Meguiar's has a new product out this year..."M-771- Heavy Oxidation Scrub", that looks really interesting

I have absolutely no idea of how well it works, etc, but I've never been let down by any of their boat/RV products.

Just to say...I was never really able to get an older fiberglass anything to 'come out' with a DA. Seemed I always had to grab the rotary.
