My Flex 3401 has been slowly dying over this past few months. I found a short in my cord, and repaired it, until my new cord could come in. I've replaced the cord with a factory replacement... It will start and run for about 2 seconds before dying... I've been able to unplug and plug it back in twice since with the same result. It almost seems like I'm tripping a breaker or have a wire loose but can't find either. Any help is appreciated!

So after some more trouble shooting and Internet searches... I thought I had the speed switch/sensor problem or a potential brush going out...All in all I actually just reversed the white and black wire when putting in the new chord. I'll leave this post up for the next guy that has the same problem! Note to all the Autogeeks... Always take some pictures before digging into the electronics of the industry... Even if it's just 2 wires!

How long have you had it for before you had the issues? What were the symptoms of the bad power cord? I own a Flex allso and would just like to know what issues I may have in the Future.

I used and abused my Flex 3401 for +4 years before having and problems. I noticed the rubber reinforcement where the cord goes into the buffer housing was really getting worn, and eventually slid down the cord/separated from the buffer. One day it just quite on me. My first response was to replace the cord to ensure it was getting good power before going after brushes or the speed switch. To my luck it was the cord.

Sorry to hear, there was a thread on some repair places that you can send in for repair.

I would try to do some searches to find out, as you definitely want your machine to get fixed !
