Newer Water Based Paint

Is there a need for consideration of different formulated products to use on the newer water-based automotive paints being used by manufacturers and many paint & body shops?
Are the old stand-by products just as good on all finishes (paint is paint), or are newer wax/sealants/coatings adjusted for the new paint?

On the east coast most shops are still using solvent based clear. I was told most factories are as well. I believe Volvo uses all water based paints and clears, I have found no difference in caring for them
