Hello everyone. I'm going to be putting on a coat of Meguiars ultimate wax (sealant) on my car but first I'm going to clay bar it. In the past I've used quick detailer as a lubricant but its expensive to use 2-3 bottles for one car. Is quik wax an option to use as a lubricant too? (I can get this cheaper) Is it better or worse than quick detailer before I slap on some sealant? Or is it fine to use a very soapy mitt as lubricant? All responses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The soapy mitt will be just fine but I use Meguiar's QD myself. You shouldn't go through 2-3 bottles on one car though. Or even one bottle...

2-3 bottles of QD is way too much. I don't use half of one on my wife's Santa Fe.
To answer your question though, ONR is a good choice, and is pretty cheap.

I think your wash soap mix would be fine if you don't want or have the time to buy anything. Don't use a strong dilution and wash, rinse, clay, rinse as you go as to not let the soap dry.

If you have time and money, buy a rinseless product and a clay alternative. They can save some time, certainly the mitt.

Also watch for marring.

I see some people use a soapy wash mitt. I use ONR for clay lube, a quick detailer and I add some to my wash bucket as well. It's a great and cost effective product.

There is no Best clay lube

This is one area where you can save some money

As long as it provides a little lubrication and not too much; it will work

I use Meguiar's Rinseless (D114) diluted at 1oz per gallon

You can dilute down the bottles of detail spray.
10:1 is fine for clay.

D155 is incredible and very economical as a dedicated clay lubricant.

Carwash soap in a spray bottle will work fine,to much lube and the clay won't bite and clean very good,I've never used a purchased lube ever.
