Sealant crosslinking question

Hey guys, I want to put a coat of sealant on my friends brand new WRX sti but I know there's a cure time for the sealant to crosslink....usually like 12 hours. Does that mean he can't drive it for 12 hours and it should stay inside? Or shouldn't be exposed to rain for 12 hours?

To rain and moisture,he can drive it though.

Which sealant are you planning on using?

Some require more time than others.
