Duragloss 101, 105, or 111?

I believe 111 would be used for a vehicle in excellent condition. Which one would be used for minor correction and or cleaning a car about 6 years old (subaru -soft paint). Also can 101 or 105 be used on new paint for extra shine?

Many would probably tell you to use 501 (marine cleaner/sealer) on a 6 year old car. I'd just use the 105. 105 is mostly a chemical cleaner, but I believe it has a small amount of diminishing abrasive in it, as well. I don't know if you'll get much correction out of 105. Many say they do get some correction out of the 501 marine cleaner.

Yes, 111 is a pure sealant, good for paint in excellent condition. I just did a coat of 105/601 last week on my 2014 Toyota with paint in nice condition. Super duper shiny now. I will follow it with a second coat of 111/601 after my next wash- to ensure that I obtained even application.

Why not? Because I already have the 105 :) Also, sticking to to the "least aggressive method first" mantra, the 105 might be all one needs. Why go to the 501 if you don't need to?

I've used all three. I've found that 501 possesses very little in the way of polishing abrasives, so, if you are looking for some correction to remove even very slight marring, or swirling with a DA, you will be much better off with a dedicated polish first.

But for a dirty paint finish, 501 is excellent.

I'd go with 501 on an older car. The cleaning power of 501 is remarkable.

Yes, 501 then 105 with 601 for the finish. They are mostly chemical cleaners though and do a fantastic job at removing oxidation and give great protection.

If you have swirls etc then I would go with a polish like Meguiars or Menzerna or HD, or Sonax or Optimum first (list goes on).

Probably want to lay down a coat of 601 before the 105. Or... Mix 601 in a 1:4 ratio with 105, 111 or 101. Apply thin coats. Greatly improves duration.

Lets talk about Duragloss 111. Duragloss 111 (http://www.autogeek.net/duragloss-clear-coat-polish.html) is sold as a polish but it has no correction abilities so it's title is a bit misleading. What Duragloss 111 is, is a fine sealant which leaves a freshly polished surface looking like glass with great protection. Personally, if I had to categorize Duragloss 111 I'd classify it as a sealant.

Duragloss 101 & 105.

Both products work and work well. Both remove oxidation and minor finish imperfections but I'd lean more toward Duragloss 105 (http://www.autogeek.net/duragloss-total-performance-polish.html) for cleaning and correction + protection.

Use either Duragloss 101 or 105 and if you decide to bump it up a notch add a final layer of Duragloss 111.....:props:

I speak with a certain voice of authority when it comes to DG products. I am the one that brought the concept of mixing DG 501 or 105 or 111 with DG 601 at a 4:1 ratio to the AG community. I also beta test products for them and have for years. So having qualified my position, let me give you my opinion on what will suit you the best:

With a 6 year old car, you will have some oxidation and other sins to remove. What you haven't said is whether you intend on using a machine polisher (DA, Flex, etc) or not. If you're going to be doing anything other than applying a sealant, I strongly suggest using such a machine for its extra power. The results will absolutely reflect that (pun intended).

So, my suggestion to you is to start with DG 501/601 in a 4:1 ratio. Mix a small amount up in a squeeze bottle (like a ketchup bottle) that you can buy at a dollar store. You can also try to mix it on the pad, but I don't recommend doing it that way. Work the mix in on a medium aggressive pad (I adore the white Buff & Shine pad). A white pad will be great as you will literally see the crap coming off of the paint as it will discolour your pad. You will need 2 or 3 pads to complete the job. Clean them afterward in paint thinner....this mix will NOT rinse out with water and/or APC.

Follow that step immediately (one of the advantages to using the mix) with DG 105 or 111 mixed again 4:1 with 601. Which one: 105 or 111? Ignore the whole-it's labeled as a polish nonsense- and choose according to what look you want. The 111 has a more pure sealant (high gloss, plastic kind of look) vs the 105 which is a bit warmer, more like a wax kinda look. White, yellow, and red look amazing with the 111 although I only use 105. You can then do another layer of that combo or top it with a wax immediately afterward too. Aquawax will definitely make it pop if you use it periodically.

That is my suggested route for you. If you do not have a machine, you can still do the 501/601 stage by hand. It will just take longer and won't be as effective as it would have using a machine. I still recommend doing it, even if only by hand.

I recently switched from the 105/601 combo to 111/601 on my daily driver. Putting cleaning ability aside, I find the 111 to be just as durable and waaaay easier to apply and remove then 105. I was always a big Zaino Z2 fan but have been impressed with 111 mainly due to it's durability and ease of application likeness to Z2.

I've got 9 months easy out of DG 105 including the harshest winter in 50 years last year. That includes over 15 winter commercial touchless washes. Phenomenal product for under $20. Looks like carnuba warmth.
