Hello all,

I'm a quasi new guy here and I enjoy washing and waxing my car on a sunny day. However, I noticed micro smudge marks left by either the microfiber towels or spray wax.

See photos bellow. (I think Photobucket downgraded the quality)

Any ideas on why I'm getting these smudge marks? They are only visible in certain angles of direct sunlight...

Are you microfiber towels new or freshly washed ?

Just because you wiped off wax before, and used the same towel does not mean it's clean.

It can be smudged from the spent product from the other applications.

When your applying spray wax etc, it is wise to flip to the dry side and buff off any streaks.

If your towel in general was streaking then your towels are dirty

Thanks man. I thought that they were clean. They are Meguire's MF towels, so they aren't the best, but they not terrible cheep Wal-Mart towels either. I'll go in my trunk, and wash all of them just to be safe. And I'll make sure not to use fabric softener.

Ya, even tho you think a spray wax towel will last 3-5 applications its not true , usually one towel per spray wax job.

Or no matter what you will smudge and streak due to spent product.

Remember when you wash them.

On hot, you dry low with no dryer sheets.

High heat dry will damage the towels.

Dang! Yeah, I got to make sure I keep track of my dirty and clean towels.

I can't see the pics. But yeah, I have swirl marks that need to be polished out aka "paint correction", but I'll do that another time. I want to get my core skills down first, then start the polishing process when I have a DA polisher.
