A little souvenir from the Steve McQueen 1956 Jaguar XKSS (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/competition-ready-velocity-channel/97233-little-souvenir-steve-mcqueen-1956-jaguar-xkss.html)

3 of the cars we worked on had single stage paint including the 1956 Jaguar XKSS owned by Steve McQueen.

Towards the end of Wednesday, (the second day of detailing and filming), Mike Stoops showed me a 4" yellow Meguiar's spot repair pad with green paint on it from the polishing process that he was keeping as a souvenir.

I though... that's a good idea so I snagged one of the Meguiar's 5.5" yellow thin foam discs for display in my office among my antique car waxes and tools.

Here's the car after my "Competition Ready" Team worked their magic.

Here you can see the green single stage paint that transferred off the car and onto the pad.

Not sure if this will be its final resting place in my collection but here it is next to my original 1987 Makita 9207SPC Rotary Buffer.

Very cool Mike!

But would it kill you to drop it in a bucket of pad cleaner before you put it on display?!

I like Bullet too and I think everyone loves Elenore.

That's funny but not going to wash it as that's a once in a lifetime detail.

We are a disturbed lot! I love it, Mike, and would probably have it in a glass case. Beautiful single stage British Racing Green.

Now that is one seriously good looking car. Thanks for sharing! Bullitt and Le Mans are some of my favorite films.

At least one of my guesses was right:

Maybe not a glass case but maybe sealed in a solid chunk of lucite plastic?

Those were all iPhone camera pictures. I just started going through the Canon "real" pictures today. Check out this thread...

Good guess!

The curator of the museum when asked said although there's a value on this Steve McQueen car because it's one-of-one and they are never going to sell it on the market that it is for the most part priceless.

Kind of cool and nerve wracking at the same time working on a priceless car.

Once in a lifetime detail...that is an UNDERSTATEMENT! I watched something on Velocity about that car and it has McQueen custom touches like chrome wheels and a Von Dutch glove box for his sunglasses[emoji41]

It's said to worth 30,000,000.00 and because of that I wouldn't wash the pad either!
