Does anyone know if the foam applicator is supposed to be removable?

Nope, that's not normal. Because you apply pressure as you use it, the foam head should stay on during use. Just try not to lose it. :)

I would certainly take the opportunity while it's removed to clean and rinse out well. If you have trouble keeping it on, you could try a small bit of glue to reattach after the foam has been cleaned and dried. Just be sure not to glue around plunger where product is dispensed.

You could also keep it removable to be easily cleaned after each use.

Mine did that too. It wont stay on while applying anymore. I havent tried to glue it back on but I was very disappointed.

For sure it does wear and fall off. I just dispense it on a small towel now. :-

Same here, mine also fell off. Just put on an applicator and apply.

Mine came off also ... and I found it to be a bit of a benefit. I can use it on my finger to protect weather-stripping that is not flat. I wish I had a couple of these round foamy things as it actually came in handy.

Mine fell off awhile ago. I resorted to a 1" foam poly brush and found it much easier to use.

Just hit the plunger against the brush and load it up. The chisel point allows more accuracy.

Now that is a great idea. Thanks.

mine also fell off. don't glue it back on with lock-tite superglue; the superglue eats and destroys the foam.
