I thought this was some watermark so I whipped out my Griots 6 inch polisher along with their pads and glass polish. This did not do a thing to the "staining" that I am seeing. Is it water etching? The griots glass polisher did remove all of the watermarks on the windshield but I don't think this is watermarks.

My windshield did receive Aquapel 2 years ago. Is this the remanent of the application? I even used Uber compound with a blue CC cutting pad and it wasn't even doing it.

Hard to tell what it is. Does it have a rainbow effect to it?

No, it doesn't. Usually water spots or etchings are white, but this is not. It looks like some sort of staining that has been embedded into the glass.....

The reason I asked about the rainbow effect is because I' ve seen rusty water stain like that. Can you get a better picture of it? Do you use an aerosol can to spray your wiper cowl with a dressing?

It looks like the UV material impregnated in the glass.

I don't have any spray dressing for plastic if that's what you are asking. I will try to take better photos tomorrow as it's really hard to capture it. The "staining' is actually all over the windshield, not just at the bottom. It's very obvious when you are looking directly at the sun. And it's really hard to see if you are outside the car.... gotta use a flashlight to make it more visible.

The staining looks like it was run off from the top of the windshield with streaking. Not very visible from the outside only if you shine the light with an angle (almost like you are looking for marring or imperfections of the paint). However, the staining is very visible from the inside when you are looking directly to the sun....

Not quite clear on the pic, but it seems like acid damage. I've worked on a toyota van than had the same problem as that but the ENTIRE GLASS was covered. I tried all waterspots remover and glass polish but no luck. A glass expert told me acid rain could've possibly eaten through the "soft layer" of glass causing a permanent stain.

This is probably a stupid question but could it be something on the inside?

Looks like dried up chemical of some sort.down here in south fla with the heat ,the car wash detergent will bake on glass and cause embedded streaks and spots pita to remove.just rented a Camry with 5k on it the whole windshield is etched from a strong detergent and the swirls are horrific .

Try the compound with a rotary on low speed and moderate pressure with a polishing wool pad, wrap the wipers and if it's cold in your region kick on the defroster to heat up the glass it will help with the cleaning.try a light compound first or anything in your arsenal before ordering ceriglass that stuff is not cheap.

Do you use RainX washer fluid? If it dries on your wins held it with spot up and is a pain in the ass to get off.
