It's taking off emblems and badges of a vehicle.

Debadging is when you remove manufacturer emblems, model numbers, etc. From the vehicle. For example, i "debadged" my BMW 335 by removing the silver model numbers "335" from the rear of the trunk lid. I like the cleaner look and also like how it doesn't catch my wash mitt.

I was lucky in that it was simply applied at the factory by 2 sided gluey tape. I used waxed dental floss (some use fishing line) to saw through the adhesive after warming it up with heat first. Used some GooGone to remove the residual gluey tape and buffed out the final finish.

No apologies needed on that one, my friend. There are and have been lots of words or nicknames for things done in car talk that i didn't get. One was when someone on another enthusiast forum talked about "shaving" his door handles. For the life of me i could not figure that one out until i saw a photo.

BTW - that's when you remove the door handle and then flush the overall door panel once the handle's removed. Yup, obviously you hafta figure out how to open the dang door after!

Same with "Frenching," which has nothing to do with tongues. :)

If you don't have the means to heat the glue up, you can soak the sticky with GooGone, then use the line to remove the emblem.

I think Ive just about de-badged every vehicle I have ever owned! A couple I couldn't, without major work but the rest were done pretty quickly after I got them!
