So last year I went on an Autogeek shopping spree and bought a bunch of crap that I never use, which was an expensive $600 mistake.

In an effort not to replicate my stupidity a second time, I'm looking to purchase no more than 5-10 products that are ESSENTIAL to detail the interior.

This is what I've already bought that can be interchanged with the interior:

Megs D120 Glass Cleaner
Megs D103 APC
Master Blaster (air blower)
Chemical Guys Dog Brush
Random el cheap microfiber towels

This is what I'm thinking about buying so far:

1” Round Detailing Brush
Wheel Woolies Boar’s Hair Detail Brush – 1 inch
Stoner Invisible Glass Reach (my back window is a SOAB to clean otherwise)
TechCare FloorLiner and FloorMat Cleaner (I've got weathertech molded floor mats installed)
TechCare FloorLiner and FloorMat Protector (I've got weathertech molded floor mats installed)

This is what I believe I still need:

Dash cleaner/protector
Alcantara Leather cleaner (armrest/door inserts)
Genuine Leather Cleaner (seats)
Plastic Trim

What else am I missing?

I was going to suggest some Meguiar's Quick Interior Detailer or even some Adams QID.

Either of those can do your leather too, they are not for deep cleaning they are for maintaining.

How necessary is a steam cleaner or shampooer if your interior doesn't really get to dirty? Especially on darker/black interiors?

Thank you.
Appreciate the info regarding purchasing used.
That is a very good idea.

For a professional detailer, I would say it is a must have.
For personal use, not 100% necessary.
Keep in mind that steam cleaners are great for cleaning the home and vehicles.

There are some decent inexpensive steam cleaners out there.
- Vapamore mr100
- Mytee Firebird
- McCulloch 1275, 1375, 1385

I've found a natural bristle (very soft) dusting nozzle to be very helpfull in cleaning the vents and other nooks and cranies in the cars interior. Instead of just blowing the dust around you collect it in the vacuum.
