Well my father in law called me up and said that his neighbor wanted me to detail her Infinity. No problem I thought. Went to pick it up and was shocked at what I saw. It looked as though the car had been washed with sandpaper. I was amazed at how bad the hood, roof and trunk looked. She is a very nice elderly lady and her generosity had cost her. I guy had come up that claimed to be out of work and wondered if he could wash her car for her to make some money. Well I don't knwo what he did but it looked as though he washed it with a brillo pad dipped in a mud hole. To make matters worse this is a lease vehicle that has to be turned in by March. Here are some pics of the hood:

She hoped I could help her out and I said I thought I could at least make it better. I have been practicing quite a bit with my Hitachi rotary and figured I couldn't do much more damage and the correction possibilities would be worth it. I used the rotary and like Nica kept assuring me it was a lot easier than I thought. I just had do make sure to work slower and pay attention and things went really well. Well here is what the process was:
Tires/Wheels: Cleaned the tires and wheels with DP Gel Wheel Cleaner and black wheel schmitt. The wheel wells got Megs APC undiluted. Dressed the wheel wells with Stoners Trim shine and the tires with Surf City Beyond Black Tire Pro. This is a great product as it leaves the tires looking fresh and new and application is easy. If you have not tried this product you should.
Wash: The bugs got the Poorboy's Bug Squash with the Pinnacle Safe Scrub. Washed with 2 oz. DG 901 and 1 oz. Surf City Wash in the AG foam gun. This soap combo is killer, plenty of foam and great cleaning ability. Used a rinse bucket and a White/Yellow Schmitt. Dried with a leaf blower and Cobra Guzzler. All door jambs were cleaned with DG #921.
Glass: All glass inside and out was cleaned with Stoners Invisible Glass. Applied with a MF and dried with a Cobra WW.
Engine: Lightly misted with water and sprayed down with Megs APC undiluted. Then worked in with soft bristle brush and lightly rinsed down. Then dressed with Stoners Trim Shine.
Interior: I used DP Total Interior Cleaner followed up by DP Interior Surface Protectant. I vacuumed out with shop vac. The leather seats got cleaned with DP Total Interior Cleaner and were conditioned with Surf City Leather Rejuvenator. This was my first time using SC Leather Rejuv. and it worked great. It left the seats very soft and it reminded me a lot of Wolfgang Leather Conditioner but was cheaper.
Paint: Well I decided to use my Hitachi and Menzerna SIP. DantheMan hooked me up with a sample of this and it was just the ticket for cleaning up the scratches. I used the orange LC pad with the Menzerna and it did a fabulous job. Here are some pics after doing about 3/4 of the hood:

I was amazed at how easy the rotary made the work. After polishing the car I used the Surf City Great Barrier Reef Wax. This was my first time using it and I really liked it. It went on very easy and came off just as easy. It left a beautiful shine and really enhanced the flake in the silver paint. Every Surf City product I have used has been phenomenal. The wax went on and off just like Liquid Souveran and gave a comparable shine. I can't make a true comparison because I have only used LS on dark colors but it really set off the silver well. Maybe this is like a liquid version of Signature Series II. Well needless to say the customer was ecstatic with how the car turned out because she knew that with the shape it was in she would get hammered when she returned it. She also was so pleased she wanted to get set up on a regular 3 week rotation to have the car cleaned....woo hoo my first "regular". Well here are the before and afters:
