This brand new vehicle was brought to us to receive a ceramic coating for superior protection. Upon inspection it became clear that the vehicle was not at all cared for by the dealership before it was sold. There were some incredibly deep scratches, water spots, and marring over the entire vehicle. I discovered that one of the doors had also been repainted, which was not disclosed to the owner at the time of purchase.

The new owner was not seeking perfection for this soon-to-be daily driver, so our one step correction process was selected to help remove some of these defects before applying a ceramic coating for protection. Moral of the story, don't assume that buying a new car means you're getting a perfect vehicle. Thoroughly inspect, or hire a professional to thoroughly inspect, every inch inside and out. It will save you time, money, and a lot of headache down the road.

Process
Wash: ONR
Decontaminate: Medium Grade Clay & Nanoskin Mitt with Glide for lubrication
Correction: HD Adapt on Orange Light Cutting Pads via Rupes LHR21ES, Griot's BOSS G21, and Rupes LHR75e
Paint Prep: 50% IPA Solution
Paint Protection: 22ple VX3 Signature Coating
Wheel Protection: CarPro Reload
Tires: WaxAddicts Tyre Dressing
Glass: Meguiar's D120

A considerable amount of bonded surface contamination was present. This is not uncommon on new vehicles as they have often spent a fair amount of time being transported by boat, truck, and/or rail. They may then sit on a dealer lot for some time as well. All of this leads to rough feeling paint and must be removed with detailing clay.

The paint had clearly been neglected prior to being purchased by the new owners, but our one-step correction process was bringing it back to life.

The left rear door had clearly been repainted. Here we can see evidence of sanding marks that had carried over onto the left front door.

The paint coating was then baked with infrared lamps to accelerate curing and increase hardness.

The end result was a glossy vehicle that should be properly protected for years.

It looks so new! (wink wink)... Nice Job! Nice save... It's a good thing the owner found you to correct the horribleness created by the dealership.

I see it says TDI on the back, I wonder if it is affected by the VW scandal considering audi and vw share parts

Beautiful transformation as always Zach! That black paint now looks like it belongs on a new car.

Did you happen to get any paint readings from the normal paint vs. the repainted door? I wonder if the owner will contact the dealer to find out what happen on the affected door and why it was repainted.

Thanks for sharing.

Nah, this is a 3.0L V6 diesel, the cars impacted were the 2.0L 4cyl diesels.

you are absolutely right I was thinking on and off about supplement more income from inspecting cars for the general public before a purchase, the only problem is I'm not a certified mechanic, and I think besides social media it would take gobs of cash to market this.Theres a guy in Cali that deos this everyday for a living.I seen so many customer cars repaired paint wise,my friend bought a used cts v in black the whole car was repainted and still paid 60k I didn't dare to say anything.

It varies by state but damages under $2,000 don't need to be disclosed in most states. I guess that is where having a 3rd party inspect a new car comes into play.

However, just about every dealer has a PTG, just ask them to go around your new car with it.

The more & more 22ple I see the more I like! They will make a huge splash at SEMA setting the new bar for coatings.
