Gentlemen and ladies,
I have a question regarding polishing mirror finished aluminum. Not on a vehicle but specifically an axe. For out department honor guard we use lightweight aluminum head axes. They come polished to a mirror finish but recently someone thought it would be a good idea to clean them. Whatever they used left swirl marks and haziness in the finish. What could I use that is readily available to remove the haziness and subtle marks. I was thinking maybe a foam pad on my 7424 and some compound of some sort? Would flitz or mag polish do the trick or is it too abrasive? What about something in my poorboys line up I already have? Here's an idea of the axes I'm dealing with.

Find out who ruined the factory polish and make them buy all new ones.

Whenever I have to polish non automotive (small) aluminum pieces I use a one horsepower spindle polisher, a felt wheel, and the white bar of polish.
