This mustang has what looks to be oxidation on the front fenders and on the hood. I've attached a photo of the fender where it is easy to see. The most aggressive combo I have is a orange ccs pad and menzerna 400 on a PC 7424xp. Do you guys think this would come out with that combo?37682

looks like clear coat failure to me. maybe some chemical fell on the car.
just my opinion, not really sure.

Looks like the clear is already gone.

Kinda hard to see to give you an exact answer. Has the car been repainted? It looks like the forward part of the fender is in good shape. If it is a smooth transition and repainted it could be that someone did a bad blend of the base/clear paint job. Seen that before. Can't fix that. Or could be paint failing like said.

Will compounding it make any worse if it's already failed?

You're talking about the front part versus the back right? Looks like (in that thumbnail sized photo) that the back part actually looks worse than the front. Seems like the clear coat is in trouble for sure.

FG400 will work wonders, but on that... I'd start with maybe a blue pad first, doing say an area 2 pads wide. Then do a 50/50 next to that with a white pad, again 2 pads wide.

Will it be totally corrected, and no longer noticeable? I wouldn't think so. It'll likely look better though, just be careful.
