I own a black 2014 Ram 1500, new in August 2014. I have been using Pinnacle and Wolfgang products since I purchased it.

Usually weekly: wash with bodywork shampoo and finish with crystal mist

Every 6 months: clean with paintwork cleansing lotion. follow with two coats of wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant. Top with Souveran paste wax. Re-wax every 6-8 weeks.

Paint is in really good condition. But because I drive it and because it is black, there are a few fine scratches here and there visible in the right light. I have a sample of advanced finishing polish and I am thinking about using it before deep gloss paint sealant instead of paintwork cleansing lotion. Given that I am not using the swirl remover, is it better to use an orange light cutting pad to work out the fine scratches, or a white polishing pad for the smoothe pre sealant finish? I recognize that I am probably splitting hairs, but thought I would ask the experts.

Lake Country Tangerine Hydrotech. It can cut just under the orange flat/ccs, and finish like the grey. My #1 favorite line in foam for d/a is the Hydrotech line.

If I am doing this today, my choices are limited to CCS orange or white.

Do a test spot to see if you get the results you like.

Start your test spot with the white pad, try another test spot with the orange pad. If the orange pad gives the desired results, you can stop and seal it up, or you can polish again with the softer white pad for even more clarity, then seal it up.

Hope that helps.

If I am doing this today, my choices are limited to CCS orange or white.

These may not be the sizes of pads he has, but these are his limitations:

A light cutting pad... Orange Light Cutting CCS Smart Pads™ DA 5.5 inch Foam Pad (http://www.autogeek.net/orange-5-5inch-ccs-buffing-pad.html)

A polishing pad... White Polishing CCS Smart Pads™ DA 5.5 inch Foam Pad (http://www.autogeek.net/white-5-5inch-ccs-buffing-pad.html)

He doesn't have a finishing pad, though it's probably the best pad for his product, it's not within his limitations if he wants to do the work today.

Gray Finishing CCS Smart Pads™ DA 5.5 inch Foam Pad (http://www.autogeek.net/gray-5-5inch-ccs-buffing-pad.html)

White pad if you have no other option.

Thank you for your advice. I used the white pad, and it looks purdy!

I would consider the HT Crimson pad to finish it since it is black.
