1950 Ford Custom in the house! Detail Classes at Autogeek (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/sign-up-detailing-bootcamp-class-3-day-class/95432-1950-ford-custom-house-detail-classes-autogeek.html)

My buddy Spot dropped off the 1950 Ford Custom Convertible that's here for our September 3-day detailing class.

This is just ONE of the cars my class will be training on.

I always document the before condition of the cars in my class. When I bring cars in for my classes these are the real deal. That is cool cars that need help. I show over 9 different models of polishers in my classes and for each type of category of tool I have dedicated cars for the students to train and learn on.

Here's the 1950 Ford Custom Convertible in the sun to highlight and reveal the current condition. As she sits right now every inch of the paint is filled with swirls and holograms.

My normal practice is to frame-up the shot to show you the general area of the car. Like the hood, a fender, trunk lid etc.

Then take a close up of the actual focal point where the sun, the flash from my camera or a swirl finder light is documenting the issue.

Holograms
Besides the circular swirl scratches you can also see the tale-tale signs of holograms from the misuse of a rotary buffer.

Beautiful car. Nice paint job. Just needs some machine polishing to restore her back to her original, just out of the paint booth glory.

Then we moved her inside....

Looks good in these shots... but you need to know how to inspect paint not just accept what you see as the actual condition.

Here's a side shot....

In the below shots I've lit up the side of the car with the flash from my camera.

The first shot will be to frame up the location on the car.

The second shot is simply an 800 pixel wide by 540 pixel tall section from the original showing the swirls lit up by the camera flash.

But yeah, with or without swirled out paint she's a beauty!

I think my class will like working on this hotrod Ford with it's LS1 hiding under the hood.

This will be one of our Friday cars.

Nice looking car and a lot of real estate :props:

Looking forward to help restore that paint to the way it should look.

I'm sure the owner will be amazed when we are done with it.

Even though it's a convertible there's still lots of real-estate!

And every square inch of paint needs correction. We'll be tackling this car on Friday along with all the other SIV's for this class.

SIV = Special Interest Vehicles.

Then on Saturday, we'll dive into production detailing.

Going to be a fun class and we have some surprises too!

Dumb question Mike...Is the color 'red' or 'orange'?

It's orange. I'll ask Spot the exact name for the color. It's not a factory Ford color.

We're also going to,

Address the brown stained wide whitewall tires.

Use the SONAX Leather Foam Leather Cleaner & Conditioner (http://www.autogeek.net/sonax-leather-foam.html) and SONAX Dirt Eraser (http://www.autogeek.net/sonax-dirt-eraser.html) for the leather interior.

Thanx Mike.

Was thinking 'old age' was really working against me this morning.
