Mike,

I must have missed this and if I did I'm not sure how it happened since I frequently visit the forum.

Is this book Mike Phillips’ The Complete Guide to a Show Car Shine Paperback Book (http://www.autogeek.net/how-to-create-a-show-car-shine-book.html) a replacement, or 2nd addition, to the book with the yellow banner that I got from you in Evansville?

If it's a 2nd addition am I safe to assume there's new information in it also?

I can't believe I hadn't seen this before.

Thanks.

Yes to all your questions.

The Complete Guide to a Show Car Shine (http://www.autogeek.net/how-to-create-a-show-car-shine-book.html) is the second edition of my first book. It has more information, more tools, more products etc.

Anyone that's interested in any book, paperback or ibook can get more information by simply clicking on the picture of the book they are interested in at the bottom of any of my posts ad the pictures in my Signature Line are clickable images.

There's even a sentence in my Sig Line stating the books can be clicked on.

Sorry to say... the first edition is no longer available. I posted a thread to let everyone know if they wanted a copy of the first edition to get one before they're all gone...

Only a few left before they are all sold out... (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/ask-expert-featuring-mike-phillips/90275-only-few-left-before-they-all-sold-out.html)

And now they're all gone.

As for the second edition? I believe this is the most information packed book ever written on the art and craft of car detailing. It's focused on exterior car detailing because that's my true passion and in case no one has ever noticed, it's also the true passion of the majority of people that detail cars, both enthusiasts and professionals.

I recommend everyone get a copy and read it from cover to cover, there's information in this how-to book you'll never find on this forum.

I'd also like to thank everyone that has purchased a copy and then sent me e-mails, PM's and FB messages telling me how much they enjoyed it.

Thank you!

Hey Mike: enjoyed the 2nd edition of the book, and I am constantly referring to it as I 'hobby along', but one tiny thing frustrated me: web links.

It seems as if the second book was created mostly as an ebook, because there are links to mentioned products in nearly every section. For an ebook this is brilliant, as a simple click takes you directly to the mentioned product. But for the paperback, obviously, there is no clicking. But the same 'clickable links' are in the paper book, underlined and in blue, just like they would be on the web. Its frustrating.

Of course, I don't suggest you put the actual URL in there, I think that would be worse. Perhaps a reasonable solution would be to create a webpage with ALL the links found in the book. These could be listed by Chapter and page, allowing a reader to simply go to this 'Links' page, and easily find the link to the product mentioned on the page.

Thanks Mike!

Thanks for taking time to answer my questions, Mike.

As always appreciate your writing style and your suggestions on how to do things...if you know what I mean. I try to take it to heart.

After buying the kindle version, I thought it might be good to buy the iBook version for the interactive features, pics, and videos. I was right. It is sooo worth it.

It's amazing what an iBook is capable of.

Thanks Mike, for putting out a book in that format!

Yeah I found myself tapping on them.

I have the paperback as well.

I facepalmed when I realized why the links weren't working.

I was going to buy the book (not ibook) but shipping was $27.95....??!! Ever heard of "media" shipping through USPS. The reason I don't buy many products from AGO is due to the outrageous shipping charges.

Here's the deal...

I insert all the links in the copy I write so I only have to write ONE version and from this one version Yancy can create both the ibook and the paperback book.

And of course... you cannot take your finger and tap on a sheet of paper and have your web browser open up. :D

BUT you can type the words of the title of the hyperlink into Google and in most cases the article will pull right up to the top of the search results.

It will pull up 100 percent for sure if you type in the words of the title of the hyperlink and at the end add my name,

Mike Phillips

And that's why they are left in the book. Our mistake was thinking that people would figure this out but alas we were wrong.

In my next upcoming books to be available at SEMA you will see the title of the the hyperlink which is the title of an article online and above it you will see a sentence that clearly states to type the title into Google to pull up the full article.

The goal is to provide as much information as possible in the printed version. Of course you can only do so much with paper.

In my opinion, to include the titles to article to enable the reader the option or choice to get more information if they are truly interested is worth it. That said, it is up to the ready to do a little bit of typing.

Hope that helps and makes sense....

Of course I know to Google, and I didn't get confused about the links in the book...although I have found myself trying to scroll a magazine article from time to time :) .

My suggestion was simply a web page for book owners to easily find all the items mentioned...because sometimes...damn:

This is something I find all the time in books (http://kelbyone.com/marketplace/books/lr4/) such as photoediting software books like those from Scott Kelby (http://kelbyone.com/marketplace/books/lr4/). Heck it could be great tool to sell things mentioned in the book via AG. But I realize its lots of work, so I am cool with it.

You're suggestions and feedback are appreciated and I'll pass the link to this thread onto Yancy.

I hope the big picture is more focused on the actual volume of in-depth information in all my books as that is my primary goal, help others be successful in their garage.

Have to admit, I'm not sure what's involved with shipping anything to the country of Colombia.

Here's two options where you can avoid all shipping options....

Ebook Versions

Both the first edition and the second edition are available in ebook form for PC computers. These would be great options or replacements for the ibook version or the paperback version.

The Complete Guide to a Show Car Shine E-book Download (http://www.autogeek.net/complete-guide-to-shine-e-book.html) - Second Edition

http://www.autogeekonline.net/gallery/data/1313/Second_Edition_Ebook.jpg

The Art of Detailing E-book Download (http://www.autogeek.net/art-of-detailing-e-book.html) - First Edition

http://www.autogeekonline.net/gallery/data/1313/First_Edition_Ebook.jpg

The e-book versions have hundreds of clickable links to products, articles and videos.

See the post above this one for electronic PDF file versions that work on any PC

All the links are clickable to the Internet plus no shipping costs.
