5.5 inch pads seem (to me) to be the new norm in pads. But what about the tight areas? I'm gonna purchase some smaller pads for my DA and can't decide between 2 or 3 inch. If it matters, my 5.5 pads are LC HT pads.

Quick observation...On the LC website they don't show a 2 or 3 inch HT pad but the AG store does. Eh? Also the 2 inch pads on AG are 1/2 inch thick while the 3 inchers are 1.125 thick. Would this matter?

Are the 2" pads you are talking about the ones made by Flex for the Kompact?

FLEX Rotary Foam Pads 1, 2, 3 Inch Diameter (http://www.autogeek.net/flex-rotary-foam-pads.html)

They are made for a rotary, but with an adapter you can use them on a DA. I have used the 2" backplate and pads on my DA and it worked great for some tight spots on my front spoiler and around the license plate.

Looks like you were talking about these. I haven't tried them, so ignore my prior post. The flex ones are nice in that the edges have a curve to them.

I can work my rotary with the 3"ers fine. I'm into faster yet flawless final polish and with taped up edges i can finesse my 3's just fine. If i was ROB i might want 2's but am not. Hope this helps (someone). And with that said, i still have my 6" counterweight so would get an imbalanced throw. Is there a smaller counterweight for ROB's available?

And to me, thinner is better...
