Steam washing convertible fabric top

Hello everyone, I have been out of the detailing world for almost two years but I am back and with a problem. The fabric convertible top of my solstice hasn't been properly cleaned in all this time, it is extremely dirty and with some mold. A friend advised me to steam wash it but I am not sure if it will damage the top or not and I couldn't found any information. Should I give it a try or should I just stick with a convertible top cleaner? Thanks in advance!

Steam shouldn't hurt, if anything it's pretty gentle. But the Solstice is mid 2000's so ur a canvas top.

Follow the video posted and you'll be fine. I just did my 2005 Mustang GT as Mike described and it came out great.
