2012 Honda Accord scratch removal+ basic Wash & Vac
A co-worker long ago told me he scratched his Accord by using a kitchen cleaning pad. I never got around to seeing the car because he transferred to the site next door. Well, months later he finally asked me to see what I could do.
I expected to see perhaps a 2x2ft area of scratches. No dice. The entire passenger side was wiped down with the kitchen pad. He did that because while driving home he went through a construction zone and got what appears to be cement on the car. It is still on the mudguards. He said he just didn’t think of how it could damage the paint.
Wash – Meguiars Hyperwash / Wolfgang Quart Foamaster Foam Gun / Chemical Guys Chenille Microfiber Premium Wash Mitt / Supreme Guzzler Waffle Weave / Werner Pro Deck Aluminum Work Platform
Bugs – Stoners Tarminator / Safe Scrub Bug and Tar Pad
Wheels / Tires / Wheel Wells – Stoner’s Tarminator / Poorboy’s World Spray and Rinse Wheel Cleaner 1:2 / Detailers Pro Series Hi-Intensity APC 1:4 / Speed Master Wheel Brush / TUF SHINE Tire Brush / Clean Wheel Lug Nut Brush / Mothers Wheel Brush / Generic Tire Brush / Optimum Opt-Bond Tire Gel / Meguiars D156
Paint – Porter Cable 7424XP / 3D HD CUT / Chemical Guys Hex Cut Medium Cutting Pads / Lake County CSS Yellow Pad / Optimum Opti-Seal / D156
Trim – CarPro PERL
Interior - DP Hi-Intensity APC / RIDGID WD1270 / CarPro PERL mixed with 303 Aerospace Protectant (had some of each left).
Glass – DP Krystal Vision Glass Cleaner / IPA 10% mix / Waffle Weave Glass Towels
Initially, the scratches didn’t look or feel too deep and I was confident an Orange pad would get them out. I was wrong.
After running 6 slow, moderate pressure passes the improvement was mediocre. I hadn’t used the yellow pad before. So, I slapped it on and give it a whirl.
The customer was thrilled, but I would have liked to do a 2nd step on it…just ran out of time. I did the job at a steep discount and it took twice as long as I expected. I may revisit this again in the future.
