2012 BMW 550i (Lots of Correction)

I had the privilege to work on a 2012 BMW 550i the past 2 days. Car was in surprisingly bad shape for 46K miles. Lots of rock chips and heavy scratches throughout. Multiple episodes of wet sanding and I used almost an entire bottle of Dr. Colorchip which is a world record for me!

Lots of pictures, enjoy, I know I did.

First we analyzed the paint under the sun, which never tells a lie.

Next my assistant Little Shine hit the car with some Pinnacle Advanced Wheel Cleaner and some muscle

Then we proceeded to hit it with some Carpro TarX and DP Suds

Next we IronX'd & clayed the entire car...I've been on a clay bar kick lately. Theres just something about the clay in hand...the feel, the look of the contaminates coming off the paint...although it takes longer and probably costs more, for some reason I think i've given up my Nanoskin Mitt.

Because this car had so many issues in terms of chips that needed attention, I went over the entire car inch by inch with my geek goggles and did 2 rounds of paint filling before using step 2.

Next we analyzed the deep scratches that riddled this vehicle. The owner said he was quite impatient clearing off the snow that hit Boston this past winter...Oh and it showed...I made him promise to never "whack" a broom at this German Beauty ever again!

After taking care of the chips and deep scratches I turned my attention to the fun part...correcting the paint. Weird readings throughout this never detailed vehicle...No accidents or repaints, so I'm not sure why the high's and low's but that didn't stop me from doing what needed to be done.

I reached for Pinnacle Advanced Compound using a Flex 3401 with a 5" LC Hybrid Pad.

After compounding, I hit the car with Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish, and then Pinnacle Black Label Surface Cleansing Polish to prep the vehicle for 3 coats of Pinnacle V2 Diamond Paint Coating. I've always done 2 coats, but wanted to see what 3 would do...and holy crap, did this paint POP! We followed that up with Pinnacle Black Label Wheel and Glass Coating. Wheel Coating was airbrushed on for maximum coverage.

Then it was onto the neglected engine where we used Blackfire All In One Tire and Trim to make it look refreshed.

After the engine we hit the inside which was in good shape and needed some basic steam and a fresh scent. We covered all parts in Pinnacle Leather & Vinyl Coating and as always it hit the spot.

As always we leave the customer with their vehicle report, invoice, card, pictures and Pinnacle catalogs. I recently purchased memory sticks and upload all images of the job for customers to view. They love it!
