The vehicle itself may not be so special...it's a brand new 2015 base model Journey. It does, however, belong to my father in law. My in-laws are saints and help my wife and I quite a bit with our children. So, when he bought a new car? I was going to make it look the best for him and coat it with the best I had.

It was not cleaned up very well from the dealer on the day he took delivery. I also noticed a light scratch along the top of the L side of the vehicle, above the door frame. You'll see it in the pics. Here it is when I got a chance to do it 2 weeks after him taking delivery of it:

See the scratch in the following 2 shots?

The car was done with my usual steps of wash, IronX and clay towel. For polishing the paint (not including the scratch), I used the CarPro Flash Pad + M205 + SC on the same pad + Flex 3401. Worked as well as it did on that 2008 BMW. The scratch was hit with the TB black wool + M100. The wheels, paint, head and tail lights were all coated with CQF. The windshield got the last of my Forte on hand. The wheels on this car are the base wheels with a cheap wheel cover over black painted wheels. My mother in law has the same style on her Sunfire and I hate them. The black rusts and looks like crap. I also coated the black part of the wheels as well as the cover to hopefully stop that from happening to his car. The trim was all done with DLux. Here it is all done:

It's a pretty colour and is loaded with metallic in the paint.

Outstanding perfection given to a cherished family member, Richy! Looks beautiful. I also share your detest for plastic wheel covers and the inevitable nastiness behind them over time.

You're probably like me...i put my full passion and skills into every job but family is that feeling of just a little more. Nothing but the best in return for what they do and have done for me. Feels good too!

Thanks, that was absolutely my goal!

Yes, sorry about that. I was bushed when I typed this up so I skipped a few details about what I normally do. I do the same for tires on all my details, which is shoot them with Opti Bond at 100% using my air gun and then level them. I have a video showing the procedure if you'd like, I can post a link.
