I need some new sealant/wax for my chevelle. I loved BFWD but its pricey at $40. I was wondering how poxy compares to BFWD in terms of looks and slickness. I don't care about durability because its on garage queen. I really like the slickness of the bfwd and was wondering if poxy is anywhere close.
thanks

Only used BFWD once and wasn't impressed with either slickness or the look. Poxy is a hybrid in that it is a sealant with Montan wax so it has some wetness to it. Looks great on my wife's non-matallic black Golf. If you really want a great look do a light polish with HD Speed (AIO with HD Polish and Poxy) , top with Poxy the next day and then a coat of HD Express wax the next day--fantastic depth and wetness.

For a cheaper alternative to blackfire try Four star ultimate paint protection they are virtually the same thing. Hd poxy caused micro-marring on my corvette. Hd speed is very good but it is an all in one product.

If you love slickness go with Menzerna Power Lock.

Tried four star, but didn't feel as slick.

Four star, Wdgps, blackfire, and Powerlock are the slicksters that I know of.

Meguiar's M21/M26 is always a good combo.

[QUOTE=lkotsios;1285966] Hd poxy caused micro-marring on my corvette. QUOTE]

Never had any micromarring on any paint with Poxy. Could the application pad have been contaminated with fine grit?? Could the wipe off MF have contained some very fine particles??

If you love slickness go with Menzerna Power Lock.

I love powerlock as well! You have to give this sealant a shot.

I think any thing with Kaolin clay mars my corvette from what I have noticed, I have a whole list of products that marr my paint and a list that does not. By the way poxy has kaolin clay in it which is an abrasive. The marring is very faint and small tiny swirls I think will only show up on solid colors not metalics, but definetely there.

Hey Kotsios,

Kaolin clay and others like it are commonly used throughout the industry for their non-abrasive properties. It is often used in finishing polishes and cleaner waxes for its ability to lift light objects from the paint without scratching.

For waxes and sealants, it is used for its porous properties, structural strength, good dispersion, chemical stability, corrosion resistance, gloss, etc....

There may be different types of Kaoline clay in other industries that are abrasive, but not the ones used for car wax.

I am wondering if maybe a different item in the product you used caused marring and not the Kaolin?

Unless under magnification, I am pressed to find marring caused by most waxes and sealants. If I do cause marring, its usually from an external source.

The red Camaro I detailed with Speed/Poxy Combo had no metallic and it is Chevy Red paint. Zero micro marring. The paint was pristine without a blemish as I inspected it with swirl finder light. I have had nothing but perfect results with this HD combo and with Poxy on it's own.
