I haven't reapplied emblems before (only taken them off) but have a customer who would like one put back on. It's the front Mercedes logo on a 20 year old car and the original adhesive has given up. Is this my best option 3M Super Strong Automotive Attachment Tape - 03614 (http://www.autogeekmobile.net/3m-03614.html) and anything specific that should be done prior aside from cleaning any dirt from either side? Thanks guys!

IPA wipe the area the tape will make contact with so the tape bonds better.

^^^That^^^...

Or:

3M Plastic Emblem and Trim Adhesive 03601 (http://www.autogeek.net/3m-emblem-adhesive.html)

Depends on the "height of the relief" that's wanted
for the emblem to stand off from the panel.
{Note: I personally would want as
"flush of a mount", as possible}

Yep, Guz and Bob are on target. When are they not? I gotta get up early to beat'em to a post. Great to have your insight, gentlemen.:dblthumb2:

I read an older thread on here that the stuff in the tube can negatively affect the paint? I'd like to just use a glue if it works best, but don't want to cause damage to a customers car.

I going on memory here...If I remember right, 3M's 'auto tape' comes (came) in various thicknesses. I no longer have any of the super thin so can't give you a part number.

Maybe take a look at 3M's site (not the easiest to navigate) and see what pops up.

Won't help you now, but I picked it (the thin tape) at Evergreen Auto Paint. Yea, the one's in the Seattle area.
