So I got a Mustang seat for my bike, and lo and behold the seat is not leather. It's an amazing quality vinyl. I was completely fooled. So, question...how to care for it? Do anything in particular? Treat it like leather anyways and use leather cleaners and conditioners on it? Bike is garaged, but it'll sit out in the sun while at work most days. Always a chance it'll get rained on.

Guy from Mustang actually told me to NOT get it wet while washing. He said remove the seat for that.

I've got a Mustang seat on my bike and I treat it like any other vinyl trim or upholstery. Any cleaner/protectant recommended for vinyl should be ok. I personally like Meguiar's #40 and that's what I use on mine.

As for the recommendation to remove the seat during washes, my only thought on that is the fact that the seat can absorb water through the stitching and if it does it will take a while to dry out. No big deal as long as you don't mind getting a little wet when you sit on the bike and the water squeezes out, again through the seams and stitching.

agree to 2black1s... but you still can handle it by covering with a big plastics, so your sit will be waterproof then...

That is pretty ridiculous that they tell you not to get it wet when washing it. What do they expect you to do if your riding and it starts raining, take the seat off? I have always used 303 on the seats for my bikes, which does a great job protecting them.
