Hi,
My name is Steve. May 22nd I bought my first new car. a 2015 passat tdi SE manual transmission. I love it but right off the bat the dealer put swirls into the hood. I paid for a detailer to remove them and have been enjoying the car since. about 2 weeks ago I noticed that the swirls are gone but I have a large quantity of water spots on the hood. When I had the swirls removed they put a sealant on the paint and I thought that would protect it from the elements. I'm also noticing very fine scratches in the paint from wash mitts and mf towels (i assume). all of this has prompted me to take interest in the paint care process myself. I've watched hours of videos and read many topics on various forums. I went out and purchased an inexpensive DA and a few pads and m105 m205 products. my friend mike said we could practice on his car because his paint has been neglected for about 8 years and it could only get better. after about 4 hours we had all of the minor scratches gone and many of the larger ones so faded they weren't noticeable. I decided to do this initially because of my passat but I also have a 99 jetta, 2001 s10, 69 karmann ghia, and a 1977 goldwing so I think the knowledge will pay off in the future.
I look forward to reading many things and potentially giving input when i am a bit more experienced.
thank you
