I am wondering if anyone has a different gameplan with the different paint types they are working with. I have a black Focus ST with black metallic paint and I am having a hard time obtained the deep, wet gloss that I have obtained with other dark vehicles. Has anyone found that metallic paints react differently to sealants vs a standard carnauba? I have used Klasse HGSG and M21 and it has always resulted in a dull, plastic-looking gloss that was so/so. As soon as I hit it with a top coat of carnauba, the paint instantly darkens up and the deep reflective gloss comes out.

On the other hand, I recently did a single coat of M21 on a black Escalade with no metallic and it got a much better result compared with what I obtained with using both the sealant and the carnauba. The mirror finish was out of control.

Are metallic paints just harder to work with? Do they work better with different products? Any suggestions on products I can choose on my obession to get the best finish of all time? I got a coat of M21 on today, thinking of topping with two coats of 845 this week. Thanks!

Do you have Tuxedo Black Metallic? The problem with this color is that it often looks more gray than black. The flake picks up a lot of color so varies depends on what you use.

For metallics like this, if you want maximum bling I would go with a "clear" sealant such as as WG Deep Paint Sealant over many carnaubas. You just have to experiment.

The Ford paint never looks that deep to me and beauty carnaubas (Blackfire, Fuzion) add gloss but it never looks that deeps. Our car's paint is just full of orange peel and that does not help.

I found if you like a "blacker" color yet lots of flake you can try Pinnacle Spray Wax. It is not as durable but easy to apply and gives Tuxedo black a nice black look with shine.

To me...
It sounds like you have already found your gloss
solution, for this particular vehicle's paint-system.

Blackfire Black Ice and the good news is it's on sale right now. It doesn't get any wetter than that on black.

Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Paint Sealant is amazing too and one of my favorites. I used the PBL Cleanser for prep.

Over the past 3 years or so I've experimented with about 7-8 different combos on my GC.

I agree. I just wanted to get some feedback on the M21 and it's ideal applications and how everyone address different types of paint.
