This is the THIRD time in about 8 months of me coming across a website using my stuff (verbatim intro and a customer's vehicle pic again). This time they're local and live about 3-4 miles from me. I sent them an email last night and no response. Called today and the guy said he didn't know what I was talking about and wouldn't change anything. So, I sent Go Daddy an email to see what my next step is with pics of our sites for comparison. I really hope they can do something with this guy. Sorry, just venting and seeing if anyone else has had an issue like this or can shed some light. It's such a nuisance because they can't write their own stuff and use one of their own pics.

You should watermark all your photos for now on then.

Watermark the photos, and let the perpetrators know you will be pursuing legal action if they refuse to remove your content. A simple cease and desist letter shouldn't be too hard or expensive to come by.

On interior pics, I usually have a business card or our car care instruction card is a pretty good location. Otherwise I watermark.

I would personally like to see the website(s) in comparison.

I recently switched over to watermarking too, anything that goes online (site, Instagram, facebook, etc) all gets the watermark now. Definitely worth the extra 30seconds

Good luck getting it resolved.

I thought about watermarking my stuff. However, I already have dozens of pics on my FB biz page so I don't want to take all of those down and start from scratch, much less re-upload them with watermarks. I also upload a lot of pics straight to FB from my phone. Maybe if there's an app to watermark them from my Galaxy phone I could consider it.

After he hung up on me, I texted one last time and told him I was wanting to be clear on things and asked him if he was refusing to remove my stuff because I wanted it "for my records". He texted back and said he would. It looks like he's taken down my text on his site but still has my picture on there. It is progress nonetheless. His CL ad is unchanged. I've been doing this since 2010 and notice in his CL ad he says 2008, yet his website was registered last month. Hardly believable. We'll see how things work out since the last 2 sites that copied my stuff changed them after a few days.

Here's mine....

Check out iWatermark. Super easy on the iPhone, maybe there's a version for your Galaxy too. Even if you don't go redo everything, at least try to watermark all pics on your site and just watermark from here on out on social media sites.

I wouldnt worry about when he claims to have been in business that would be hard to prove and what would it do for you? He very well could have been in business since 2008 and just made his new website in 2015 thats not hard to believe. Well we are talking about verbage here I dont know that watermarking will help you there but with pics it will. Good luck.

If he's direct linking your pictures just change yours with new names and leave your old in the content tree but change them to something offensive. That tends to drive the point home when all your stolen pics become porn pics or if you're taking the high road watermarked with "This work done by XX" where XX is your business name.

Post his CL ad link here so we can get it flagged and taken down right after it gets posted.
