I just bought a new VW GTI and wanted to take care of it properly. This site was recommended by the vwvortex forum.

Wow! It's like I've stepped into a whole new world. So many products, so much to learn. Yet another way to spend a lot of money; I love it! :)

I purchased the Forum Favorite kit, clay bars and lubricant, and what appears to be the entire Mother's lineup. Once I get my buckets to go with my grit guards, I'm ready to tackle my stable of cars.

I'll start with my Vespa LX150, then my 2003 Honda Element which is in sad, sad shape. My wife's Acura and then the GTi. I can do the before and after pictures if anyone is interested.

After washing my wife's car, I used Mother's Ultimate PGW system. I should've clayed the car as I could feel the grit as I put the various coats on and off but I didn't know how long it would take and my wife needed the car later. I used Mother's wheel cleaner but following the directions meant using a lot of product; it didn't have a wide spray pattern. And the wheels still needed some scrubbing.

I did clay the Vespa and that wasn't any trouble at all. I then used the Klasse AIO and their sealant. I put some Pinnacle Carnauba detail spray wax on top. That scooter never looked so good but I discovered it's got a flat tire so it'll be a few days before I can show it off.

nice deep red shine and there's my dog and me reflected on the side.

I got the GTi washed and in the carport but haven't had a chance to finish the job. I think I'll clay it and go with the Klasse products but top the sealant with the Pinnacle Souverain wax and then maybe the detailer.

Spending that much time on my wife's car made me appreciate the work a good detailing shop does. I also know that I need more drying towels and something for stuck-on bugs and tar. Fingernails can only do so much.
