So my co-worker Bryan and I ride motorcycles, he rides a 2007 Triumph Daytona 675 and I ride a 2014 BMW S1000RR. Out of curiosity one day we decided to both put the new BLACKFIRE Crystal Coat Paint Coating on our helmets. Well, he did his entire helmet and I only did my shield because the rest of my helmet is a matte black finish and I didn't want to risk adding gloss to it. I do occasionally spray Permanon Super Matte on it though. Every now and then we will get caught in the rain especially down here in Florida where it can rain at any given time for any given amount of time. So we figured with the coating on our helmets, it will help repel the water since it is extremely hydrophobic and help with cleaning bugs off.
Needless to say we were right. I've only gotten caught in the rain a couple times since I coated my shield, BUT WOW what a difference!!! The water doesn't even stand a chance. As soon as it hits the shield, it's gone. Every rider that I have met or know, I always recommend them to coat their shields because it makes a world of difference while you're riding. It has honestly made riding in the rain much much safer. The other upside, bugs, they clean off so easy. I hardly have to touch the shield and the bugs just come right off. Bryan has had similar experiences, he had coated his entire helmet and it looks like glass. People literally stare at his helmet when we go out riding. Here's some pictures:
