Just thought I would share this. I live in an area where there are tons of nice cars. A bentley is like a honda. I parked next to this thing. I know we are all car people here but incase you don't know this is the all new Mercedes S600 V-12 Maybach starting at around $200,000+... Beautiful car until I looked at the paint. Not sure how well the picture of the fender shows it but this car had some really bad orange peel all over it. I just wanted to share because I was shocked. Very surprising for such an expensive car that Mercedes inspectors would pass this through quality inspection and deliver a product with paint like this...

Well, when I win the lottery, an S65 will be the first car I buy. Guess I'll be paying the best detailed in Chicago to wet sand and polish that bad *****, too. Oh, and add 3 coats of opti coat pro.

Bro, if I won the lottery, Id have it sent back to the factory and tell them to put 100 layers of clearcoat on it again, then have Mike detail it, and have like 50 layers of opticoat on it.

Could be a re-spray. Drivers of cars like this don't tend to be the best.

I ooooed and awwwwed over one of these recently in the dealership showroom. I noticed the same thing on that one. Actually, I noticed this on every new Mercedes that day at the dealership.

Could be a re-spray.

Then...IMO:
That's one heck of a painter!!

Also IMO:
It's hard to match original factory orange peel enough, with an aftermarket respray, to simulate the same orange peel resolution when viewing the vehicle (at similar and various distances) as before said respray.

Drivers of cars like this don't tend to be the best.
Where can I find the data to support this statement?
TIA.

i washed a B7 Alpina last night. it wasn't that bad, but horrible for an expensive vehicle.

Doesn't surprise me at all. I have a 2013 E350 with Orange Peel to beat all orange peel. Paint is shiny but reflection is VERY wavy.

I have a 2015 Benz C300 with bad orange peel. I think all the newer Benz paint is like this. At least all the Mercedes I detail are. I guess Orange Peel is the new "thing" lol
