Hey all, I gave this 2010 Lincoln MKS a one step polish and coating a few weeks ago. It developed what appeared to be clear coat pealing around the c pillar by the metal trim around the rear windshield. It appears to be a previous repaint as the paint underneath still has the factory clear coat gloss. Paint thickness readings were in line with the rest of the car. Here are some pics...

I told the owner I would wetland and polish out the damaged area to hopefully slow down the peeling. I told him I would do this at no charge and at no risk or liability to me. Any other thoughts or ideas? Much obliged [emoji12]

Well, it IS clearcoat failure. On that color, wetsanding and buffing MAY help, BUT the color coat is VERY, VERY THIN, thinner than a clearcoat and that odds of going through it are VERY high, even with just buffing.

This is something I would pass on. I mean the car itself can still be detailed and polished, but I don't think it would be wise to focus on that area and hope to correct it.
