Could someone explain to me what a long throw means in lay mans terms when it comes to correcting a car? What is the advantage? What is the disadvantage?

The advantage of a larger throw is that more surface area is being covered as you polish. This means you’ll be able to remove swirls, scratches, water spots and other paint defects in considerably less time.

Ok, as I am just starting out a home based detailing business, would it be to my advantage to get a longer throw polisher to accompany my Flex and PC? I don't have a rotary anymore, and don't really feel the need for one, but would like to cut my time down. Thanks for the reply

I will give my impressions, quickly touching upon some key features. The ergonomics of the BOSS machine's are amazing. The way they fit into your hand and the ease of gripping make the machines a joy to use for 15 or 21mm. I could not find any fault with the design of these polishers. While they may be a little heavier than other machines in this category, the power behind the correction capabilities makes it well worth it. Additionally, a great touch Griot's did was to send a washer mod with every machine. This allows space between the backing plate and the machine's shroud, allowing for "free spinning" of the backing plate which allows for a little more backing plate rotation.

More on the entire system in a larger write up. :)

I would seriously consider picking up a BOSS G21. You'll save a lot of time when working on vehicle's with big, flat panels (think trucks, SUVs, full size sedans, etc). The large stroke combined with the pad size will really cut down on the time it takes to detail a vehicle.

In the past I've used a Rupes 21 for the aforementioned applications (big cars), and also for the horizontal (hood, roof, trunk lid) panels on every other vehicle. Now for vertical panels with complex body lines (think every new car made in the last couple years), the forced rotation of the FLEX combined with the 5 inch HYBRID foam pads makes quick work of removing defects.

Griot's Garage BOSS G21, FLEX XC3401 and a 3 inch polisher (Griot's or Rupes) will certainly make polishing paint easier and faster.

Is there special pricing for a handsome bald guy that orders one on the first day? Lol

First 100 polishers sold include a free BOSS T-Shirt.

Since Saturday is technically my Friday, I'm usually pretty generous. Plus, Meghan is out of town so....

Give me a call is what I'm trying to say. ;)

You can't trust this kid when you leave town, we will come back to an empty warehouse.
But yes first 100 customers to buy a polisher will receive a free BOSS shirt and I will tell you those shirts are bad butt (PG version) and I hoping to snag one myself!
And just a note Griots Polishers are not ready to ship with any vendor yet, they will be shipping out to us first of this week. But get your order in now and get your free shirt!

Got mine today, can't wait to try it out. All I can say is the BOSS is a BEAST!

Just flipping the switch you can tell this is one serious DA.

The first thing I noticed is w/o the washer the backing plate spins much more freely than the Rupes 15 I have. I never did the washer mod on it so I'm going to test drive the GG21 w/o the washer installed. I also bought a 5" backing plate so I'll try it with both. One thing for sure, the throw on the GG21 is immense!
