With another new coating coming to market many people are excited to have another option to choose from. Having a coating added to the PBMG lineup makes it exciting as well in that it shows they are not resting in new product development to cater to ever expanding needs/wants from the consumer.

This new coating product from PBMG is what is expected from the BlackFire lineup. The break neck whiplash inducing shine we have come to expect from the product line. Hopefully the complimentary maintenance products will be added to maintain the BlackFire Coating such as a coating detailer and coating booster…
BLACKFIRE Crystal Coat Paint Coating Kit (http://www.autogeek.net/blackfire-paint-coating-kit.html)

BlackFire Coating Pros:
Lays out very nicely due to being so thin
A little goes a long way
Flashes nicely after being leveled with mf towel
Noticeably darkens surface

Cons: Very watery and easy to over apply if not careful

BlackFire Paint Prep Pros:
Smells like cologne making it enjoyable to work with during the paint prep process
Spreads easily and flashes within a workable time frame.
Leaves surface ready for Coating application

Cons: None that I can think of

This Focus ST was in decent condition being fairly new with roughly 2K miles on it. This Focus was the perfect test bed for this new coating review.

Wheels cleaned with Meguiar’s D143 Wheel & Tire Cleaner
Wheels deconned with CarPro Trix
Washed with Carpro Snow foam shampoo
Clayed with Meguiar’s Blue clay/D155 Last Touch

Paint polished with 3401, White Hybrid, BlackFire SRC Compound as a one step
Smaller areas hit with GG3, 3” Tangerine, BlackFire Compound

Paint wiped down twice with new BlackFire Crystal Coat Paint prep to ensure a clean surface prior to being coated with new BlackFire Crystal Coat Paint Coating

Wanted to show the application video first [ame]www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UXF7bD34Zs[/video]

Now I must say that this was my first go round with this product and really over applied the applicator when going over the roof when starting out. You will see the streaks on the roof as I didn't get them with the first swipe of the mf towel. After catching that the roof was wiped again to make sure no excess coating was left behind.

Now here are a few before pictures just to capture the condition of the vehicle.

We used it a couple of weeks ago in the garage and none of us could figure out the aroma...maybe menthol. It is easy to over apply. If working alone (which we never do in the garage) one panel at a time for flashing.Very little product was used to do a medium sized car.:dblthumb2::buffing:

Looks great. Was this one or two layers of coating?

I hope we see people posting up in a year how the coating is holding up.

Very nice review, I love that blue color and it really pops with that coating. BFWD has been my favorite sealant for my personal, but I've recently switched to coatings for them to simplify upkeep. Sounds like I might need to give this a shot.

I need more cars to try all these different products out.

Thanks for the review. It appears to be very easy to use. Looks like a good coating for a first timer like me.

The real test is obviously yet to come Mike. Longevity and how easy is the car to maintain going forward? Hopefully you'll be able to see the car again and report back. Thanks for the video.

Thanks Tim.

I found the same to be true.

Thank you sir. One coat.

I should be able to report back next year on durability. This is a daily driver that sits outside 24/7.

Thanks CJ!

I did have a dwell period. Hope to get back into it and maintain like before.

Thanks Jarred. I really like that blue color as well. Really pops with this coating installed.

Just remember it can be easy to over apply. Other than that it is very user friendly in that spreads and flashes nicely.

This is a great coating to get started with.

I will surely keep everyone updated as best I can. I see the car everyday. He is my neighbor and friend.

No problem.

Nice review bud! Thanks for doing this and doing the video as well.

Seems like a drop of this stuff spreads very well on an entire fender. It's probably from your priming but it's still great!
