How do you get helicopters out of the air vent grates?

I tried a leaf blower and that didn't work.

Vacuum, tweezers, patently

Isn't there a way to separate the top plastic from the grate?

Depends on the car, but more often than not North26's way is the easiest and sometimes fastest. Especially when it's a customer car and that plastic can be old and brittle, you don't want to be buying a replacement because it broke on disassembly.

I was going to say needle nose pliers.

Yep, it's a late spring here and I was cursing the helicopter and cherry/crabapple blossom storms that the wind brought while I was trying to sheet-rinse cars this week!

Once they are crumbled pieces, it'll be easy to vacuum out.

Sadly I don't have an air compressor

Shop vac and a piece of stiff wire with a hook bent into the end.

Keep the vac nozzle right on the grate and hook the pods and pull. They come apart and get sucked right out.

But if it's east to remove the grate then do so and vac the debris.

Fortunately my 'grill' comes off easily and I can just vac them out, just been too lazy for right now though (plus the honey-do list has been LONG).

We had two 'series' of helicopters this year, the big ones that don't fit into the grill and the small ones that get into everything ... grrrr
