I had a call to look at an original 62 that had been repainted. The paint looks bad, I was called to make it shine to sell as her husband passed. I assume these marks week require some wet sand, or would a denim pad be able to smooth this out?

Looks to me like etching from a bird bomb or bug that was left there. Wet-sanding might be the route to go but be sure you have enough thickness to work with. Obviously start out the least aggressive, say M105 / 205 on a burgundy pad....your going to have to get some decent abrasion going for that.......just my 2 cents :xyxthumbs:

It's all over the hood and trunk, I'm thinking they didn't sand well after to flatten the paint.

Ah....that makes more sense then if it's all over the car. Try a small area with some M105 or so, see what results you get!

Ok, thanks, they are dropping it off this week so I can dig into it. It is a pretty cool car:

A real safe approach would be to machine wet sand using 3M Trizact #5000

Do what I call troubleshooting...

Sand a little to just a section of the affected panel and then compound and then inspect to see if the area you sanded and compounded is making the paint look better or if there's little effect.

Then go from there...

#5000 is very non-aggressive and actually leaves a sheen on the finish that buffs out very easily...
