The thread title says it all. Is it worth the extra cash for the HD model with the longer cord?

I have the 3" and 6" both with the HD cord. Absolutely worth the money.

+1. Wish alll my devices had the long cord, but most other than Griots charge stupid $ for an extra 15 feet of cord.

I wish I had ordered the HD version. Less extension cord right gauge wire.

As an alternative you can use this extension cord Husky 12 ft. 16/2 Extension Cord-AW62611 - The Home Depot (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-12-ft-16-2-Extension-Cord-AW62611/100661438)

Since it's a two way cord (like the Griot's DA) it doesn't have a huge female end so I just taped it to the Griot's cord and leave it there permantly.

Isn't the idea of going with the heavy duty model is the 25' cord rather than introduce the additional resistance and possible voltage drop with the addition of the connector and cord.

I doubt there is any difference between the 25' cord on the HD version and the standard 10' cord and a 12' extension as far as voltage drop. Groit's customer service said it was fine and the only time you run into problems is much longer extension cords. Never had a problem with mine in over four years.

I have the regular version and have had no problems.

Yes, it's worth it.

The cost for the upgrade straight from Griots was worth it to me...even though I could have VERY easily installed my own separately bought extension cord to the interior of the GG6 I figured why risk the warranty? Griots will replace it whenever something goes wrong and to me that is worth more than saving $6-8 buying my own extension cord and installing it.

I don't own a Griot's DA, but a 25' cord is still not long enough to go from the outlet inside the house to the parking space in from of my townhouse.
